چکیده
We measure the thermalization dynamics of a lattice Bose gas that is Stark localized by parabolic potential. A non-equilibrium thermal density distribution created quickly removing an optical barrier. The resulting spatio-temporal are resolved using Mardia's $B$ statistic, which sensitive to shape entire distribution. conclude equilibrium achieved for all potential depths we sample, including strongly interacting and regime. However, slow non-exponential, requiring up 500 tunneling times. show Hubbard $U$ term not responsible via comparison exact diagonalization calculation, rule out equilibration driven lattice-light heating varying laser wavelength. timescale comparable next-nearest-neighbor time, suggests continuum, theory may be needed understand equlibration in this system.

Interacting Bose Gas in an Optical Lattice
A grand canonical system of hard-core bosons in an optical lattice is considered. The bosons can occupy randomly N equivalent states at each lattice site. The limit N → ∞ is solved exactly in terms of a saddle-point integration, representing a weakly-interacting Bose gas. In the limit N → ∞ there is only a condensate if the fugacity of the Bose gas is larger than 1. Corrections in 1/N increase ...
متن کاملInteracting Bose gas on the Lattice
A Lower bound for the density of a Bose gas in Z in the grand canonical ensemble is calculated for general dimension d, and for l(Z) potential interactions. The rigorous formalism of the measure on continuous time random walks, analogous to the Wiener measure, is briefly explained, along with justification of the Feynman-Kac formula using this. These are then used to bound the density, although...
متن کاملA three-dimensional lattice gas model for amphiphilic fluid dynamics
We describe a three-dimensional hydrodynamic lattice-gas model of amphiphilic fluids. This model of the non-equilibrium properties of oil-water-surfactant systems, which is a non-trivial extension of an earlier two-dimensional realisation due to Boghosian, Coveney and Emerton [2], can be studied effectively only when it is implemented using high-performance computing and visualisation technique...

We study the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in a weakly interacting 2D quantum Bose gas using the concept of universality and numerical simulations of the classical absolute value psi(4) model on a lattice. The critical density and chemical potential are given by relations n(c) = (mT/2piPlanck's(2))ln(xiPlanck's(2)/mU) and mu(c) = (mTU/piPlanck's(2))ln(xi(mu)Planck's(2)/mU), where T...
متن کاملWeakly interacting Bose gas in the one-dimensional limit.
We prepare a chemically and thermally one-dimensional (1D) quantum degenerate Bose gas in a single microtrap. We introduce a new interferometric method to distinguish the quasicondensate fraction of the gas from the thermal cloud at finite temperature. We reach temperatures down to kT≈0.5ℏω(⊥) (transverse oscillator eigenfrequency ω(⊥)) when collisional thermalization slows down as expected in ...
